Modifying or upgrading your home? Read this first! Home exterior modifications- Please become reacquainted with your Bylaws. It is necessary to present to the Board, in writing, any exterior modification plans prior to starting work. This includes; removing decorative trim, painting, adding features, roofing, and modify your structure in any way. Remember that only certain colors are approved for certain homes and if you fail to get approval from the Board for something different, you may be required to remove the modification. Telling a Resident to change their home's appearance is a very unpleasant job but it is one that the Board is forced to do according to the Bylaws. Please avoid any uncomfortable circumstances and remember to 'Check With the Board Before Changing'.
Is your trim in trouble? It's time to take a close look at your home's exterior. The Michigan weather sure is tough on the wood trim that frames our homes. Look around the next time you drive through and you will notice that many of our Residents have paint on their trim that is well past it's prime. SOme homes even appear to have the original paint still i n place! The old paint not only looks dingy and unfinished, it also has lost its ability to protect the wood underneath. This will soon result in the wood rotting and will be a MAJOR repair in a very short time. There are many painting services that can paint your trim for a very reasonable price. Check the 'Free Classified Ads' page on this site for local folks that can do this for you. Save yourself the disastrous expense of replacing wood and take pride in the look of your home this spring!
How do I get the 'wavy' trim clean at the peak of my house? Clean up with Clorox! The scalloping that gives such a nice look to the peaks of many of the homes in Victoria Commons has become dirty and dingy. This can seem like a daunting task to clean but it is actually quite simple and should be on everyone's 'honeydew list'. Just mix 50% Clorox Clean Up (available at most stores) and 50% water in a large spray bottle or garden sprayer. Carefully climb your ladder and thoroughly douse the scalloping. Wear eye protection so the spray does not blow in your eyes. Let the solution sit for 5 minutes and repeat the process. You'll see it working as the black dirt begins to run. Keep spraying until the dirt is completely loosened and be sure to let it sit for a few minutes between applications. Now use your hose to spray off the mixture. It's that easy. You'll be amazed how it brightens the look of your home! Visit the 'Free Classified Ads' page at this website for local folks that can do this job for you at a reasonable price!
